I do not own the Prokeys88 and therefore I have no idea what it sounds
like.  However I believe that "richeness" is simply a matter of
personal taste.  (NB.  I could not even find such model on the M-Audio
website).

Use the tool that is the most suited to your needs.
However, I find it hard to believe that one cannot use linux to
synthesize a sound that has been achieved in a hardware synth.  My
opinion is that some preset sounds on a hardware synth have seduced
you more than preset sounds in software synths.  It's not your fault
but it is hardly a reason to make the above judgment.
