I read this

   "The kernel-multimedia alternative kernel is no longer
   available with Mandriva Linux 2008 Spring. ... Despite its
   name, it has not been specifically targeted towards multimedia

I'm wondering if anyone knows the right kernel package to run with 
Mandriva 2008.1.  Maybe I have to create my own, but I'm not too 
happy about that as it tends to break things like proprietary kernel 
modules, at least when *I* build a kernel.

Any thoughts on this folks?
