The Tascam US-144 is apparently supported, but not the newer version
US-144L (I think it was L, anyway, it's reported to not work).

I own and sometimes even use a Roland/Edirol UA-25 that is comparable
to the Tascam. There's also an Alesis which offers quite the same and
would have been my second choice after the UA-25. I think there was
another one, but I can't remember the name. It should be possible to
find the thread from a couple of months back.

The 48kHz/96kHz thing is, to my knowledge, a bandwidth limitation of
the usb 1.1 'standard'. With the UA-25 one can switch to 96kHz, but in
that mode it is recording only. I know of no usb audio interface
without that limitation.
