You shouldn't use oss, use alsa. Oss is going via alsa anyway.

Try jackd -d alsa -d hw:0 -p 1024 -n 3 -r 48000

If that works try the same parameters in qjackctl.

It sets the driver to oss.

You can make aliases for long commands that you don't
like to type. Or a script. Or a desktop icon. Or a
desktop menu entry.
