Yes. It's not the intention to add each and every stop to the
'default' Aeolus - it has to remain a balanced set - but to 
add new instruments which are respresentative of a certain
period and country.

Anything that can record sound with 'reasonable' quality. 
Even a compressed format (e.g. mp3 or ogg) is OK in most
cases. Stereo if possible, but it's not essential.

The ideal case is every C, Eb, F# and A, but it's not
always essential to have them all. A representative set,
10 seconds for each note with 10 seconds between them.
The latter is to estimate the background noise and reverb.
Try to get close to the organ (the less reverb the better),
but not so close that the balance between the notes would
be modified. Use one microphome position for all pipes.

I would !

For the final tuning by ear, having a recording of some
music using that stop (only) is very useful. Even more
if we also have a MIDI file for it.
