An interesting topic, I think.
I've created a wiki page at linuxaudio.org i.o. to gather the information:

Maybe anyone would like to help to improve it.

Also be welcome to extend the FAQ from time to time.
Think about the first difficulties, you've had with linux, audio, etc...
Maybe you know the answer now and can share it.
