I've used a Behringer large diaphragm live and it performed well and
sounded fine.  Issues raised about sensitivity and pattern are
significant, and the band along with the venue will make a big
difference in your results.

I like the airy fidelity and crisp intimacy of condensers, but as a
vocalist utilize the proximity effects that familiar dynamics, including
the sm58, deliver.

If you're talking about a small acoustic combo, or a solo act, in a
small club or coffee house, and that doesn't appear to be the case, a
large-diaphragm condenser would be an interesting alternative.
