In my experience 9.04 is a step backward in stability from 8.04.  My
work desktop was up for 121 days before I upgraded.  Within a week I
have had an X lockup that required a reboot.

In my case I suspect the new open source ATI driver, previously I had
used fglrx.

The main reason to upgrade is hardware support.  Many wireless and
sound chipsets work a lot better in 9.04.

I upgraded for the "native" Exchange support in Evolution which is a
complete joke - it crashed as soon as I entered my Exchange
username/password and hit  "Authenticate" :-)

There is no reason to upgrade unless you have a specific problem with
earlier releases which is definitely fixed in 9.04.
