lashstudio is a squashfs (sfs) module that can be loaded with the boot
manager from the system menu.
read the bottom section about sfs modules from this link
http://www.puppylinux.com/development/package-management.htm

you don't need anything else, just lashstudio sfs module and the puppy iso.
there's no need for rt kernel as long as you are root and don't need very
very low latency (but if you use a guitar maybe you need..., I don't know, I
just like to play softsynths).
this release of lashstudio was compiled for the retro variants of puppy 431
found in the special puppies folder from the puppy 431 download mirrors.

i recommend using the iso with kernel 2.6.25 found here:
ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/puppy-4.3.1/special-puppies/pup-431-k2.6.25.16-intel_modems.iso
