to me this is the crux of the matter, making music is enough of a task without extra issues added. 

usually as soon as someone gets a setup that works for them then they are loathe to change.
often it will be a setup based on closed-source software as it's more common. persuading anyone to
switch everything including an o/s they may never have used is a really big deal.
