I don't know how versatile it is, not being much of a synth player, but
ams seems to work ok here on Arch64. I just installed ams 2.0.1-2 from
AUR and loaded a demo patch hooked up keyboard and all go. It did
segfault when I tried to load patch which used a plugin I didn't have
installed but worked fine after installed required plugin. Which version
of jack are you using?
