Hello SM!
   Not really a nice solution, but perhaps it works, nonetheless: use jackd. I 
always found that much more convenient to handle. You only have 
system:capture_* and system:playback_*, nothing to go wrong there. Maybe you 
can experiment some more with the alsamixer, while you are doing this. Perhaps 
you need to deactivate the line-in monitoring...
