I don't do any packaging or distribute packages for any distro,
it would really lead me too far. I guess the RPM based distros
have some place for packages contributed by users.

OTOH, if I can so something that makes packaging easier just
let me know. $DESTDIR was added to aliki's Makefile for that
reason for example.
