Thanks for the reply.  There should be some new features by the autumn
so keep an eye on the site.  Got a load of stuff planned out, but
taking a holiday first!  The ability to turn projects into stand-alone
applications is coming very soon, and some more tools for sound
manipulation and sequencing.

I haven't had a look at Pure Data for a few years now.  It's a great
project, but just wasn't for me, and at the time a little unstable.  I
seem to recall a lack of a decent (or any!) threading model (as per my
post), but that may have changed.

I consider Praxis and Pure Data to actually be very different projects
with very different aims.  I made a conscious decision to move to
solely using Linux and open-source in my work about 6 years ago
(having used Linux for about 5 years by then).  The one piece of
software that kept me using Windows was AudioMulch.  I really like
working creatively with high-level patcher environments like
AudioMulch, Isadora, etc. It's an area that I think is still quite
limited on Linux, particularly for working cross-media.  While it's
obviously possible to build higher-level constructs in Pure Data, I
prefer working with code than patching at a lower level.

Praxis also began as an experiment in building a system designed for
multiple media from the ground up (without claiming it's the right way
to do it! :) )  I find that some other software in this field is
limited by its history as either audio software that's had video
tacked on later, or vice versa.
