There never was an issue regarding the truth!

The issue was, that the truth did offend the sovereignty of a state!

At least in Germany you're not allowed to point out undisputed truth, if
it does offend the sovereignty of a state, assumed it's a state that is
important for Germany. You're free even to spread unproven rumours about
ever nation that is unimportant for Germany.
