In the list, the Discovery Pro synth.  I must say I am not having good
results with it (demo version).  The sounds have potential, but there
are too many crackling noises happening.  Even if there's one per
minute, it is too many.  This is at no oversampling with 4 voices.
There's even crackling that can happen when it does not play any note,
just sitting there.  For folks who do not know, the crackling sounds are
not part of the demo mode, as some other demo synths have.

I think I know what it is because some of the u-he synths can do that,
like Diva and Bazille, for some demanding sounds.  Fortunately, with
these synths, there is a 'multicore' button that once activated, gets
rid of the noise without sound degradation.  IMHO, it seems like a need
for algorithm optimization in DP Pro.

The machine is a i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz with 16GB RAM.  Recently the
audio system was fine tuned (thanks again to all folks who contributed
in the thread !!  Much, much appreciated) to low latency.  It is at
about 5.2 ms, which is great for acoustic guitar recording while
monitoring in headphones.

Back to Discovery Pro, I would go for the synth because I like a fair
amount of its sounds, more gritty than u-he synths (even with the
Deform Diva, which, apart from being wild and whacky for the most part,
they are rather clean whacky sounds).  What holds it for Discovery Pro
is the crackling noise which is totally unacceptable.  I emailed them a
few days ago to see if that was a known problem and if so, if any work
is being done, but got no reply yet.

All in all, it is a Good Deed to encourage companies that are making
software for Linux as it helps back in return Linux itself by providing
more visibility.
