Hmmm.  I can say that I've never had this issue with my MTK22, which I use
for capturing audio 95% of the time.  It remains a question as to what Atte
means by silent, but this sort of issue could conceivably cause his problem.

If his ch1 input was coming up on ch17, that would be informative.
