I like the graphics a lot, it's a great design.
However, IMO the text
"washes out" against the light background. Have you tried filling the
letters with color(s) ?

Brightness contrast is quite low, yes. It's the same thing that makes
this look right in my eyes, though. All dark colours I tried stand
out too much and create a negative mood. The light beam just makes
the viewer expect brightness, I think.
