Thanks.
Well, there are only 2 options to communicate a relation to Linux:
writing it out, or a penguin (where the later works only for the
initiated).
I'd say that penguin has a much greater presence than what your comment
infers. Besides, due to inherent mission the ones we will be (mostly)
attracting will be a part of the initiated crowd anyhow.
With a bit of imagination, you can already see a bird head in my design ;)
Now that you've mentioned it, yes :-).
I might be able to draw a semi-serious looking pinguin
(less comic style
than tux). But should I? It's convienient to speak of Linux audio, but is
the kernel that important? On the other hand, one animal is enough ;)
Let's not open *the* can o'worms ;-). Linux is nowadays synonymous with the
OS even though this was originally obviously not the case (think: xerox
becoming synonymous with making copies).
In almost every instance, the logo will be used in
combination with
a textline, anyway.
Possibly, but I'd say (at least IMHO) if the logo requires text as a
"crutch" to clarify its purpose, perhaps it has not achieved what is
supposed to be its primary goal--identity. Granted, some of this will be
generated in time through its persistence, but we should still aim for
something that is as independent from the text as possible.
Best wishes,
