I also know that the Denon DNC-640 CD/Network player runs on embedded
Linux (uClinux) because I own one but these devices violate the GPL;
they're unable to give me the source codes.

Unsure how, rather than unable, I think. I believe linuxaudio.org could
help these companies avoid GPL violations in future; this is still new
territory for most of them.

This is the first I have heard mention of a violation by this company
with this product. We should pursue this...

I have already reported that to gpl-violations.org and they're working on it.

The japanese corporation claims they weren't aware that the chipset SDK they used was uClinux based so they want to review their code before anything. I think they know what they're doing because the binary updates are not available through the internet and are e-mailed by distributors ... rather strange!

The problem is that the device have serious security flaws that prevent me from installing these wonderfull units on clients networks. Plus I'd love them to decode ogg & flac.
