Thank you for reaching out and proposing we can work
together. I would
like to take this to our team and circle back next week.
Sound good?
That would be great, thanks! I am cc'ing this reply to our consortium
mailing list, to keep everyone at

Hi Mike,
I got your contact details from the page
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/Join regarding corporate membership.
About five years ago, I helped found a nonprofit consortium of
companies, Free Software projects and institutional users involved
in audio on the Linux kernel.
linuxaudio.org <http://linuxaudio.org>
now has over fifty members, including most of the major players in
the Linux audio scene.
We'd like to affiliate
linuxaudio.org <http://linuxaudio.org> to the
Linux Foundation, in order to raise the profile of audio development
in the kernel community, ensure solid audio driver support for newer
hardware, and recruit the larger corporate users of Linux audio to
the Foundation.
Several flagship products in the professional audio industry are now
built around the Linux kernel, and yet audio driver development has
very little funding. Just two paid ALSA developers, working for
Linux Foundation member Novell since its acquisition of SUSE, have
written almost all of the audio drivers in the kernel. It's a
struggle for them to keep up with all the new audio hardware on the
market, which threatens desktop and embedded market adoption -
particularly in the creative industries, where drivers for higher
quality audio hardware are required.
In addition, recent kernels in the 2.6.2x series have suffered
performance regressions with regard to real-time audio, which could
damage the reputation of Linux as a solid platform for professional
audio work in the recording and broadcast industries.
Do you think it would be possible for us to work together?
Cheers!
