re all,
sorry to ask but:
is this a discussion list for the Linux-audio consortium, a recruiting
lis for ubuntu developers or a support list for ubuntu users?
thanks for your clarifications and understanding,
ciao

Hi all. Ubuntu Studio is looking for people to test
and report on
daily builds and or Alphas for Hardy. We're interested in feedback
on how PulseAudio and JACK work together how Ardour is working and
anything on the -rt kernel.
I will note that the pulseaudio plugin will not be in Hardy because
it takes JACK being in the Main repo to build against. We're trying
to get JACK in Main for Hardy+1. But this adds a extra layer of
latency so it might not bother most people.

Thanx.

Ubuntu should have precompiled version of JACK via
apt-get. If for whatever
reason you wish to compile by yourself, one of the common problems is making
sure that the tmp folder is properly selected. IIRC Ubuntu may have it in a
different place than what JACK ./configure assumes. Other issues are that
you need dev libraries for compiling (e.g. libalsa-dev etc.).
Hope this helps!
Best wishes,
Ico
