This might not be the best list for sending this, but here goes:
Where is the softsynths? Me and many other musicians miss quality softsynths.
The only ones that I've found is amSynth and Hydrogen. I would also like to see a good
sampler, I've found one that looks interesting - LinuxSampler, but it doesn't even
have a GUI yet.
Aren't there any LADSPA softsynths? Would be VERY nice to load up a synth from within
Rosegarden/Muse.
Anyways, things are looking better. The sequencers and audioeditors has come a long way,
but where are the sound producing apps?
(Please don't mention any soundfont players)

Your right, this is probably a question for the lau
list. Try zynaddsubfx. It's an additive synth.

LADSPA softsynths would be a bit wierd - there is no clear way to bind
LADSPA controls to MIDI control values yet.
Its possible some convention could be expressed such that the plugin could
inform the app of changes to control ports.

Also you can't do sample-accurate delivery of synth input events that
way, if that bothers you. On the other hand you do get the ability
to wire your synth into any JACK application and to treat it exactly
like a hardware synth for any ALSA sequencer application, which is
not a bad tradeoff.
I'd love to see a some sort of modular synth things that can generate
independent ALSA sequencer client synths, a la SynthEdit for VST (I
think -- never actually used that) -- with an easy way of sticking a
pretty GUI on the front. And some sort of discovery mechanism
sequencers can use.
