There are probably a number of LAD programmers with the interest,
expertise and time to develop hardware drivers.
Perhaps the consortium could serve as a focal point to provide
collective credibility with the kernel developers and with the
hardware vendors. Start out with one or two test cases: match
up willing vendors with interested developers. Shepherd the
process through with the kernel developers. Etc.
