Changes:
- Real time position clock (it's only for reference, it's not a
precision tool). When stop playing/recording the clock values are
replaced by the output of Ecasound's "dump-position", this is the real
position.
- Automatic file name extension

Hi all,
Announcing immediate availability of Soundmesh Internet2 audio streaming
software.
1. What is Soundmesh
Soundmesh is a result of a collaborative work with Mara Helmuth. It
originally started as an "Internet Sound Exchange" Internet2 project and
has since grown to become a full-fledged audio streaming front-end. The
sole purpose of this app is to provide a mechanism for streaming
multiple
CD-quality (or better) audio soundfiles via fast Internet2 connection,
utilizing hacked version of the RTcmix v.3.1.0. Hence, Soundmesh
provides for a unique "jamming" tool via Internet for a larger groups of
participants.
2. Obtaining Soundmesh
Soundmesh is currently only available in a source form and is
downloadable from my website. It's download is broken into 2 parts: the
soundmesh front-end (~530KB)and the hacked full version of the
RTcmix3.1.0 (8.2MB). They can be obtained using the following direct
URL's:
http://meowing.ccm.uc.edu/~ico/soundmesh/soundmesh-latest.tar.gz
(~530KB)
http://meowing.ccm.uc.edu/~ico/soundmesh/rtcmix-soundmesh.tar.gz (8.2MB)
Alternately, you can also find the download links on my website.
Documentation is also available:
http://meowing.ccm.uc.edu/~ico/soundmesh/Documentation.txt
Screenshot:
http://meowing.ccm.uc.edu/~ico/soundmesh/Screenshot.jpg
3. Current Limitations
*Soundmesh obviously does not currently support modular numbers of
incoming and outgoing streams. This is something that is planned for a
future release.
*Perl (.pl) scorefiles are supported in soundmesh but do not work in
RTcmix
*Python RTcmix scorefiles are currently not supported and do not work
with
either soundmesh or this version of RTcmix
*A number of playable streams before "gapping" occurs varies depending
on the quality of a stream and the internet connection. Considering that
this is an Internet2 project, chances are your modem connection will
simply not work [well or at all].
*Sound played via network is not heard locally (should be a quick fix).
*Connections are not secure.

Hi all
With the release of Ardour 0.9beta1 on Sourceforge at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ardour, Slackware 9.0 packages are now
available for immediate download. Download links, as well as md5sums, can
be found at http://www.audioslack.com/packages/ardour.
It is also worth noting that http://www.audioslack.com will hopefully
become a repository of binary packages of Audio software to be used on the
Slackware Linux Distribution. Please check out the site if you are
interested in helping out. Your help would be much appreciated.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any site suggestions, or have
any problems with the packages on the site. I don't offer specific package
help, but am willing to lend a hand with the installation and configuration
of packages posted there.
Regards
Luke

BEAST/BSE version 0.5.3 is available for download at:
ftp://beast.gtk.org/pub/beast/v0.5
or
http://beast.gtk.org/beast-ftp/v0.5
This is a quick update to fix crashes upon script initialization
on some systems where short writes can occour.
BEAST (the Bedevilled Audio SysTem) is a graphical front-end to
BSE (the Bedevilled Sound Engine), a library for music composition,
audio synthesis and sample manipulation. The project is hosted at:
http://beast.gtk.org
This new development series of BEAST comes with a lot of
the internals redone, many new GUI features and a sound
generation back-end separated from any GUI activities.
The most outstanding new features are the track editor which allowes
for easy selection of synthesizers or samples as track sources, loop
support and unlimited UnDo/ReDo capabilities.
Note, the .bse file format hasn't fully stabilized yet, so
incompatibilities with future versions may occur, though we're
making every possible attempt to maintain backwards compatibility.
Overview of Changes in BEAST/BSE 0.5.3:
* Seperated core plugin loading from LADSPA plugin loading
* Fixed memory leaks in various places
* Added child process (bsesh) error monitoring
* Fixed bsesh (script) communication for systems with short writes
