Hello,<br><br>Wouldn&#39;t the file utility do the job ?<br>I know it reports every interresting details from standard midi files, so why not wav files ?<br>I&#39;ll try this in the afternoon, and report the result here. It will also be possible to tell file how to extract this info.<br>

 &nbsp; The csound utility is called sndinfo, but it also gives more than you need.<br>
 &nbsp; I know that the sndfile-* and eca* utilities can handle quite a collection<br>
of formats .flac definitely included.<br>
