there's another dimension to this. Since the users of ardour pay me and make my life possible, i certainly do want them telling me what to do. but ... there are limits on what i want to actually respond to. most days, i'm actually really not interested in promoting the style of music creation that Ableton Live enables. even if lots of people clamor for it, there is always a chance that its something i just don't want to do. that could adversely affect ardour's potential audience, and i have to decide whether or not i care about that.

the same calculus goes on even without notable cash flows, i am sure.
