Quick question: How can I control parameters of zynaddsubfx from
within MusE? Is this even possible?
I've only just started playing with MusE, after many years of trackers
since I gave up Windows and VST. So far, it looks nice, but if I
can't control the parameters of my synth, then I might as well go back
to tracking, since being able to adjust sounds during atrack is the
one thing I really miss.
Thanks peeps.

Howdy peeps.
I've started a list for posting music made with Linux.
The idea is to have a place where we can solicit feedback, find people
to collaborate with and generally build a community based on what we
create rather than what we create with.
This hasn't been created because LAU or LAD are failing in any way,
but because I thought it would be nice to have somewhere to show off
what you've done and get opinions.
Go here to sign up:

The only rule at the moment is: don't post your music as an
attachment. Link to it.

Hi all , sad newbie here :(
to recap i out a fresh demudi install on our studio machine and got to
the point where i was confident I could record line in audio etc using
ardour, and play hydrogen etc etc.
So the date was set for the band to come in and record.
I booted the machine and alsa seems broken. errors below,, and i have no
idea where to start.
Its possible (it was a week ago memory faded with depression) that i
broke it when i tried to install a second sound card (thinking id get 4
inputs, ok I have learnt that doesnt work) but what ever i have done its
broken.
I removed the 2nd card,
tried alsaconf
tried alsactl restore (got some no file found or something)
still no go :(
Ill try and be clearer next post. the studio machine isnt always
online(have to run a cable out) I used gaim to transfer the dmesg info
to another box with email.
now there is a point i had to apt get install gaim with some other
settings on sources list I wonder if that screwed something up. Im sure
i had it working after that tho.

I want to get a sysex dump from my Korg Triton Rack. I've tried some of
the software out there but I seem to be lost about how to get the data.
The Korg's midi out is connected to the Delta1010LT 's midi in. What
will the korg write the dump file to - /dev/midi0? /dev/amidi? Any
tools recommended?
Does the Korg need a virtual device connected to the Delta to write to
sysexxer or some midi filer program?

For those interested and available, there will be a meeting in room 82 of San Francisco City Hall on Saturday March 12, from about 12:00 pm onwards. Please contact myself (Eric Steinberg) at (415)819-2009 for more info. Hope to see you there!

Hi
I'm seeing a bizarre issue that I've never seen before. Connecting MIDI
source/sinks in QJackCtl, sometimes QJackCtl hangs. Badly.
After a kill -9, QJackCtl won't die;
16101 tty1 DL 0:03 \_ qjackctl
16107 tty1 Z 0:00 | \_ [qjackctl] <defunct>
16109 ? Z 0:00 | \_ [jackd] <defunct>
I've upgraded my QJackctl to 0.2.14, but still the problem persists.
I'm not suggesting for a minute that this is QJackCtl's fault however:
since this is such a bizarre fault, I though I'd like to check on this
list that this really is a kernel bug :)
thanks
Rob
PS. Suggestions for kernels known to work well for multi-channel audio
and MIDI work welcome - and no, I'm sticking with Gentoo for now.
Dear sound folks,
I recently bought a RME HDSP 9632 for use with MIDI sequencing. It works
fine with Cubase in W2K, but I have not been able to get any sound from
it in linux...
I also have my old Creative Labs SBLive! card installed, for ip-
telephony and normal sound messages purposes.
I run Fedora Core 3 with Gnome, reinstalled clean last weekend on a new
disk. The Sound Card Detection tool find both cards, and so does kudzu.
The modules loaded for them are snd-emu10k1 and snd-hdsp. the RME-card
is reported as Xilinx Corporation RME Hammerfall DSP. The Play test
sound button plays a sound for the SB-card, but not the RME-card.
This is how it was until today, when I tried to get Rosegarden
installed. I downloaded, got some errors running configure, installed
some missing rpms, including KDE from fc3-cd and various devel-packages
from freshrpms.net with apt-get. I logged out from Gnome, and in with
KDE. Suddenly the sound was gone in the SB-card. Logged out from KDE and
in to Gnome, and there is no sound there neighter...
Any suggestions that could point me in a direction would be appreciated.
If I at least could get the SB-card working again, I could go back to
Cubase, even if I really don't like to boot windows to do sequencing and
scores!! :(
Hoping for help.
regards,
Atle Weibell

Yes, I know. But since it's not openable in any of the programs I
want to use it in, and the recordings are much less than 90 minutes,
I'd like to just use WAV for now.
> Would it help if sndfile-play had a Jack back end?
If sndfile-play could output to JACK, that would be nice, but I
probably wouldn't use it unless I had to. In other words, if
alsaplayer or something like that could handle W64 files instead, that
would be better.
> Seems to work here with small files. Can you be more specific?
Didn't work for me. Maybe my original was somehow corrupted? I
showed the specific error below.

It was opening a WAV converted by sndfile-convert, not a W64.

Ok.
> No, but I'l consider that a feature request.
:-) I was angry; sorry. It would be great if there was a hidden file
that you could set defaults in for all the command-line switches, file
name format (time and date) and whatever.
> You could lobby the rezound developers to add W64 support, its much better

I'm going to do that.
> You might also change the file extension you use for W64 files.

This is the way it currently works for me.

I'm going to ask them.
Is there a way to get timemachine to "always" output wav files? It's
annoying that it creates this weird W64 file that no program can play
except sndfile-play, which is an annoying command-line program and
won't output to JACK anyway. Is there a .timemachine file or
something where I can set settings?
If not, how do I convert w64 files to wav? sndfile-convert doesn't
seem to work, as rezound says "warning -- libaudiofile reports that
/home/omegatron/tm-2005-02-16T21:47:44.wav contains 96670161848201472
sample frames yet the file is most likely not large enough to contain
that many samples.
Loading what can be loaded."
Also I think I just damaged my eardrums so I'm really mad at everything. :-)
