AFAIK, there's no reason for the subscriptions to disappear if they are
ported. In the worst case scenario, you may have to request a
resend/regeneration of password should you decide to unsubscribe, but even
that may not be necessary (depending how the listserv is set up on the old
vs. new machine).

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the SC4 plugin in jack-rack . I have a created a
rack and when i reopen it, i have to move a little all the sliders of
the plugin to activate it, unless the effect isn't applied to the sound.
I use a patched version of jack-rack 1.4.5rc-1 , and planet ccrma
packages on fedora core 5 ( swh-plugins-0.4.15-2.fc5 ) .
Does anyone have I an idea ?
Thanks
Flo

Sure, many vst plugins either don't have a gui, or are based on toolsets
that are available for linux as well, such as juce, vstgui and fltk.
(I've been reading the vst development list for some years)
I think its a shame that a non-free program was necessary to make
some VST makers recompile their VSTs for linux though...

Try different settings for the module parameters disable_msi and
position_fix . See "modinfo snd-hda-intel" for more information.
That solved the problem for me (and enabling capture on the device to make
it actually return samples for capturing).
Sampo
hi everyone!
over the last couple of months, i have not been able to tend to the
lists very much - moderation latency on laa was sometimes as high as 5
days while i was on tour... sorry for that.
since my workload is not likely to go down in the future, and since i
have unfortunately lost some touch with the linux audio community (i
haven't actually read the lists very much lately, as my main occupations
were live audio and [YUCK!] web development), i'd like to pass on the
baton of the list maintainer.
a few months ago, some people have already volunteered - please drop me
a mail again, i may have lost the old ones.
if you think about taking on the job: we have 3 lists,
linux-audio-[dev|user|announce], all run by mailman on a darwin server
at columbia university, new york. you can have shell access on that box
for admin tasks, and there is a neat web interface for common admin
jobs. basic understanding of mail-related rfcs is certainly helpful, but
i'm not exactly a mail god myself and found the job not too daunting :)
some good spam filter will certainly help with the job - the admin
addresses are getting spammed so heavily that i can't really process
them anymore.
please speak up if you're interested.
best regards,
jörn

if you are a free (as in "free speech") software developer
and you happen to be travelling near my home, drop me a line
and come round for a free (as in "free beer") beer. :-D
every time there is a new Fedora Core, I usually get around to moving to
the next version. However, for me, it's a bit of a pain to do because
you really have to wipe the disc and start all over.. ."upgrading"
Fedora doesn't really work well. At least for me it doesn't.
Don't you find this a bit irritating? I do. It's not hard, it just seems
unnecessary.
Are other distros better at upgrading but also provide all of the nice
features that Fedora does? (there are a lot of audio apps available in
rpm for Fedora. I just can't spend my time compiling each and every one
when updates come along.)
What do others do?

By using Torbhen's netjack driver, I guess it should be possible to
send audio back and forth between the vmware side and the host side in a
synchronized way. It might work very well.
(I tried running jackdmp in windows under vmware, and that worked very
well. Unfortunately, I didn't have the tools to compile netjack under
windows... (someone should make a package of netjack for windows :-) ))
http://www.baudline.com/source_code.html
does anyone have a copy? the webpage sais this:
Purchase the GPL source code for the baudline signal analyzer. The source code is expensive and it is intended for qualified corporate or institutional buyers. Contact us for details.
Note that baudline is dual licensed which allows for customization, derivative works, redistribution, and the free download version.
* proprietary and GPL source code licenses are available
is it even possible to dual-license, but set the bar for a fork at 10 grand, or whatever the 'buy the GPL source' tag is? is it even GPL if you have to buy it to create a fork?

im pretty sure Aldrin does much of what energyXT does. plus it supports LADSPA, DSSI, buzz machines, and is hackable and free, but yes,
in the screenshot are the "mDA" plugins, which were some of the first (free) VST plugins in around 1996 or so..history repeating?
