Maybe not the whole kernel. I do't know how SusE does this, but you
might get away with just recompiling your ALSA modules.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Anyhow I think that
arecord is the
perfect tool for recording from DAT - if it works... ;-)
Yes, arecord is the reference. If arecord doesn't work, probably
nothing else wiill work. But the perfect (command line) tool for
recording is ecasound!
