Sure, but why on earth try to figure that out when you could just embed a browser and use the really not bad interface they've already developed?

I have often wanted a plugin for an Ardour channel strip that would let me
control mic amplifier gain directly from Ardour, like you can do from a
hardware mixer.

Write a Lua script and you can make it do whatever you want, even with a little in-line GUI display in the mixer-strip .....
