QSynth also supports JACK MIDI, (Check the "MIDI" tab in QJackCtl, see if QSynth is listed there..)
Click "Setup" in QSynth, go trough the tabs, look for "MIDI Engine" or MIDI driver, and change the drop down box
to say ALSA instead of JACK.

That should solve it... >
