I second that question. I have read that this directive is something that many people are opposed to, but I also have not researched it in great depth. If anyone could point us to a clear explanation or take the time to explain the implications, I would be most grateful.

At face value I don't get it.  A copy right is a copyright.  So then,
what's hidden or implied that makes it such a dreadful thing ?
