Hey Moshe!  Thank you so much for your reply.  I looked very seriously at the 9652, but I need to be able to record 16 simultaneous streams @ 96k, and if I'm not mistaken, the 9652 only has 3 ADAT I/O.  It has an expansion card, but after going over the benefits of the Raydat, I think I'm willing to take the risk.  The last reports I've heard were that the Raydat works, but the mixer had problems, and that was 9 months ago.  Since then, they've merged the HDSPM module directly into the kernel, so that gives me hope.  I also read that the HDSPe Madi card works as well.  So...  I think I may just bite the bullet and see what I get myself in to.  Besides, it'll be good for the Linux community to have someone who is willing to test and write about what's going on with that line of cards.  For some reason, the Internet has very sparse information about it.

Thank you for your reply, and your kind words about the studio!  It has been a fun ride, for sure.

Anyone else have any info on the RME Raydat and Linux compatibility?

Hi an Welcome!

I had the same question some time ago (like a year ago) and decided to go with the HDSP 9652, no problems at all!
It is a very stable system (which I'm running at 2.9ms latency).
Initially I wanted the Raydat but the Linux support status was not clear...

Warm regards,
Moshe

P.S.: Very nice studio and site! I too use Linux for professional work and am very happy with the results. Don't understand why not more people go over to Linux for pro needs.

Hello all.  I'm new to the list, although I shouldn't be.  I've been running a Linux-based recording studio now for 10 years, and doing it professionally for 3.  I use ardour, hydrogen, muse2, mixbus, LinuxDSP, and a bunch of OSS LADSPA and LV2 plugins.

I recently decided to jump into the RME arena (currently using an Echo Audiofire12 for my converters and interface, and it works beautifully) and am finding it oddly difficult to get good results from google concerning the state of new-ish RME products and Linux compatibility.

Has anyone out there used the Raydat interface successfully with the WCM (word clock module) add-on card?   Does the hdspmixer work with the raydat?  Are there any shortcomings, or any reason I shouldn't use it in a professional studio?

I thought it'd be a good idea to refresh the internet new RME info, because the latest update I can find is from September of 2011.

Any info is welcome!

Thank you!
