just stopped worrying about it until the recent soundcloud thread &

I'm not a metalhead but your song fit my mood for the dya after
Holloween! & in my case, as the 1st one that I've ever been able to
'play' on soundcloud it makes it pretty notable. What particular doom
voodoo did you use to make that happen? I like the intro section,
vocals, drums, more-trebbly lead guitar & the sludge guitar. It all
seems to fit OK. As far as the guitar not quite jiving with the rest,
as Julien remarked, I wonder if it has to do with listening with
monitors compared to headphones? I've only heard your song on
headphones, but have had music I've worked on with headphones turn to
mush in the lower frequencies listening on monitors.

Hi Brett!
This is very old school. I feel the roots of Black Sabbath underneath that.
I do love the processing of the drums. The big snare is just wonderful! The
vocals are nicely processed as well. But the guitars don't sound right. Too
muddy. I'm not absolutely sure, why that is. EQ'ing, compression, playing? I
wouldn't say the latter.
The song itself: as I said, it's very old school to me. I can hear the echo
of rock 'n' roll and Sabbath there. The singing and playing is nice.
concerning the guitars: perhaps I didn't get the point and you were going for
the early Norwegian school. As far as I remember, they always had a... Erm
particular sound. :-)

Yes, you hit it right on the head -- heavily inspired by old school Sabbath
and some newer "stoner" doom bands like Electric Wizard and Kyuss.
Everything is also downtuned to Drop-Db, which really gives it some sludge
:-)

Hello Brett.
Interesting intro with those reverse voices and a that theme with
guitars, a nice mix and good metal overall.
I would suggest to check the levels on cymbals - maybe try to compress
them to have a consistent volume (there is one or two in particular
that you can hear clearly every time it's crashed over the rest of the
mix).
