I'm trying to use the drone synth plugin SO-666 with Ardour
I installed it from the KXStudio repo
but when I load one into Ardour the app crashes - as in: completely
shuts down
I also tried Qtractor to see if this was any more forgiving but it did
the same thing
I also tried the other two plugs SO-KL5 & SO-404 in both applications -
same thing again
here is the error message from my syslog:
Mar 10 08:36:16 kim-studio kernel: ardour-2.8.11[4577]: segfault at 10
ip ad650dc1 sp accd4b10 error 4 in libsosynth.so[ad650000+3000]
anyone else experience this?
my config is below:

The package there seems to be build from an out of date version of
so-synth-lv2. There have been bug fixes since. Try downloading the latest
package from github:
http://github.com/jeremysalwen/So-synth-LV2/tarball/master
It includes the debian packaging directory, so all you need to do is run
dpkg-buildpackage inside the directory to get a proper .deb.

Just a note for the future: You run dpkg-buildpackage in the root directory
of the source tree.

This means that dpkg-buildpackage expects to be inside of a
Git repository when building the package. It looks like

$ dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us
-gabriel

Ardour2 doesn't support synth plugins.

just to be clear - it doesn't support MIDI-driven synths. if you had a
synth plugin that was controlled only the GUI, it would work. i say
this only because Kim mentioned the word "drone" :)
