This is a misconception on your part. The general consensus is that the 
artsd, esd, gstreamer... servers are *very* useful just not for 
professional audio needs.

I am pretty sure that people who only need to browse and hear mp3's at 
the same time have a fully functioning system with kde and gnome. Seeing 
as they are the standard desktops anyone who cannot install a different 
desktop would be even less likely to be playing around with professional 
audio. If they are trying to then they need to either learn how to use 
their computer more effectively like everyone else round here or get 
someone to do the work for them.

If they want the latter thought they will have a hard time finding 
contact details because we haven't yet made a site that provides that 
info. LAD centric of course.

I am working on it now and hope to have it finished in the next few 
days. At that time I hope the people on this list will use it as a resource.
