Oh no!  This subject has just been the subject of a 200+-article 
flamewar (sorry, I mean constructive discussion) over on LAD.  Are 
sliders always better than knobs, or do knobs have their place?  Is 
it better to operate knobs linearly, or with a rotary mouse motion?

As far as I could tell there was absolutely no consensus, though it 
was fairly widely agreed that (i) neither is perfect, (ii) most 
people with an opinion have a _really strong_ opinion, (iii) it would 
be nice to have consistency about things like which mouse operation 
resets the control to its default, and (iv) people like arguing about 
this stuff.

I'm keeping my own opinion out of it this time.  Arnold, I suggest you 
try them both out thoroughly in a real world situation, pick the one 
you prefer to use, and stick to that.
