In a post at http://lalists.stanford.edu/lau/2005/03/0266.html someone else
with a UA-25 suggests using acpi_irq_balance kernel boot parameter

He was also sufferning stability problems, which, if I read and remembered
correctly, were fixed by unloading his NIC module...
