Hi Robin,

I recall when Richard Stallman made the same objection to the
linuxaudio.org name, I pointed out that our mission is very much to do
with the low-latency Linux kernel, ALSA, and other components that are
exclusive to GNU/Linux. Other people might want to build Debian on
FreeBSD's kernel or the Hurd, but as far as I'm aware, high quality
audio performance is not even on the radar of these other projects, let
alone known to be working.

As for Free Software applications on Windows or OS X, they are fine for
those users, but there probably wouldn't be a Sourceforge, or any libre
cross-platform GUI toolkits for them to use if it wasn't for the
GNU/Linux phenomenon. We haven't come this far with GNU/Linux to then
say that the operating system that people use is unimportant.

Cheers!

Daniel
