First, why in the hell are you using gstreamer with OSS emulation?  It
has an ALSA backend.

Second, did you really think it would be easy to mix 32 and 64 bit apps
like that?  I'm amazed it works at all.

If you don't think your soundcard has enough hw mixing channels, get a
different soundcard or use dmix.

Also, it sounds like you're using the onboard VIA sound device, what
ever gave you the idea that you'd get decent results with that?  Those
barely work under Windows.
