Not really. But Jack, which runs on top of Alsa, does. fluidsynth
supports JAck, as well as ither soft synths like amSynth and
ZynAddSubFx.

Give Jack a try.

BTW - You will want to turn off system sounds and things like the arts
sound server if you're going to use Alsa/Jack.
