[linux-audio-user] good news at last!

well finally i seem to have managed to upgrade to cvs alsa!!!

after all of that... fresh install of mandrake 9.0....
i'm now suspecting theres a serious bug in the supplied version of alsa
with mdk 9.0 (0.9rc2)... it was loading fine but playing with terrible
distortion... since upgrading to CVS it plays crystal clear :-)

i found that i couldnt remove the alsa packages supplied with mandrake,
but as these are only the libs anyhow, i tarred up the alsa modules from
/lib/modules/2.4.16-19mdk/kernel/sound and then erased everything in the
directory....

compiled and installed alsa cvs..
and everything has loaded and working fine.... no conflicts, no probs...

strangely though, i cant get my modem working....
which makes me wonder if it might be the old modem conflicting with
sound bug again.... never happened in mdk8.2 though...

oh well, its working anyway :)
thanks heaps everyone for your help :)
