There is a _very_ incomplete and ugly program at
<http://www.informatik.uni-halle.de/~ladischc/seqrecord.c>. You have to
compile it yourself, and it's barely usable. YMMV.

What about

	while true; do sleep 1; echo -ne '\x99\x25\x7f' > /dev/midi; done

(but you need something else for more than one tick per second)
