Thanks for responding...again! :) And ...yup! Got this one figured...

Yeah. I have compiled wine one. It was a _take a cut lunch_ affair but
that my next move.

vsti, namely Hyper Canvas, is in /usr/lib/wine directory. Name had a
space in it so I truncated it because clearly fst want's it that way.
Then with Wine running, from a shell as user "jack_fst HyperCanvas"
Jack_fst is responding...If jack isn't running, it complains.

Dig it! I wasn't slamming you or the quick toot...and I think you know
that...and I am greatful it was there at all because frankly, it's the
ONLY reference material for any of the vst implementations out there!
Just saying it would be nice to cover the stuff like "oh...BTW, here's
what the hell ./mkdirectories, or whatever it was, means and it's bloody
well not there! :) That one cost me an hour!!!

ab_O_lutlee! Nuthin' compiles on MDK without devel packages it seems. I
went thru all that putting jack_fst together with Thac's "libfst0" rpm
in place.

I have. I use it with qsynth. It's ok but not a scratch compared to
Virtual canvas or Hyper canvas. Soundfonts are a pain. Controler values
are always odd, etc and / or don't respond at all to sequences.

I also realised today that there is another vst implementation of Roland
Virtual Sound Canvas. I use the embedded version for all my live midi
playback stuff and it's rock solid. Almost as good as a hardware module
IMO...You might give it a swing too. If you don't have it, I can have it
miraculously appear in your "inbox"! :) I paid for it so it would be an
"evaluaion" if you will! :)
