Do you mean that you got no response, or that they don't consider this a
bug?  It's pretty clearly a bug if they don't allow the mapping to be
set at widget creation time, because the way it works is completely
opposite of how 9/10 people expect it to work.

There have been some reports that QT sliders work the way you would
expect them to.  More information is needed in this area.
