You can build this in PD in a short time. For anything more specific
you may have to look towards commercial software. I hear Ableton Live is
extremely user friendly and can do what you like in a few mouse clicks.

I've created somthing similar in VB for Windows, which is basically a grid of buttons, each one linked to a sound file, configurable by an ini file I keep with the executable.
