I started using Linux for audio stuff because of this very article. I'm 
using MDK 10.0 on my audio box and just starting to explore 10.1. 
Mandrake is easy to install and has not failed me albeit Linux is a time 
consuming medium for audio, at least getting set up anyway. It does 
suffer from some bloat. It is well supported by a large community of 
users and also current audio rpm's of all the best apps are always 
available.
