I have yet to try all the software suggested in this thread.

I have seen a commercial product advertised and from what I remember of
the description the microphone attaches to the outside of your neck,
near your larynx, rather than putting it in front of your mouth.  I can
only assume the purpose of doing this is to avoid picking up upper
harmonics that have been amplified by resonant spaces in the mouth/head
and instead have a really strong fundamental.

Perhaps using this microphone position would be worthwhile when trying
free software to do voice to midi.
