I started with the NCurses howto when I barely knew howto program. 
after some simple setup, you just replace familiar I/O such as printf
w/ mvprintf.  its easy.

also, check the system your running.  most standard Linux distros
these days come with a full documentation/howto section.  usually in
/usr/share/doc/HOWTO or /usr/share/doc/Linux-HOWTO.  or something like
